What a day!
Well today started out pretty good. I went to a luncheon at a friends house and had a great time. However just before we left Jared was playing and got his finger slammed in a door. I am not so good with the whole blood and gore stuff so I didn't want to look. Just a glance made it clear that he needed to go to the hospital. One of the sisters that were there helped get his hand cleaned up and put a paper towel and tape around his finger so that I wouldn't have to look at it. Remember or for those of you who don't know when he had to get stitches in November I wound up getting 3 myself because I passed out. Not a good track record when I had to drive him to the hospital. Anyway I start driving and being the concerned mother that I was a was going faster than a should have and got pulled over by a police officer. I stuck my head out of the window and said "Excuse me sir but my son has been hurt and I am taking him to the hospital. Can you please come up here and look at it so that I can get on my way. He stuck his head in the window and saw the bloody bandage and Jared crying and told me to put on my flashers and the go. So I put them on and off we go again. This time I was trying not to go so fast that a police officer might think it neccary to stop me. Well then we get to the area where the hopital is and I had to figure out how to get to the emergency room. (Whoever made that plan did a lousy job because there are a lot of one ways and not a lot of ER this way signs) I stopped in the middle of the road and rolled my window down and spoke to a nice elderly gentleman and he helped me get to where I needed to be. We finally made it to the ER and the nurse at the desk wanted to see Jareds cut so I had to take of the paper and Jared was not happy about that. We were sent to sit in the waiting room and he was called in shortly. They weighed him, took his temp, blood oxygen and blood pressure and then had us in a room very quickly. The doctor came in and said that he would need to have an x-ray to check for broken bones and then they would be able to see what needed to be done. When he came back i was informed that he had broken the tip of his finger (left middle) and that they would have to stitch it back together and the bone would be held in place by his skin and a splint. YUCK!! The cut on his finger was very deep and it was kind of only hanging on so they had to do a lot of tugging while they stitched, poor Jared cried the whole time he was being stitched and the Dr kept saying that there was no way that he was feeling anything but I could tell that he was feeling something when he screamed and held out his arms and cried MOMMa. There were two nurses helping me hold him down and he was very perturbed that I would allow someone to hurt him. With everyone around I held him and sang to him while the Dr worked on his finger. Jared and I were both relieved when he was finally done. He kept telling me that he wanted to go home. Anyway he got 7 stitches on the tip on his finger and they splinted it so that he wouldn't damage it further. He is now drugged up and doing well but boy was it a hard thing to deal with. No mom wants to see there precious babies hurting. Oh well these are the things that we must deal with and no child gets to make it to be an adult without something happening. He is doing well and the bandage is not causing him to stop playing. The rest of the day went fine. We picked up his pain meds and antibiotics at the pharmacy and I took him to Wendy's for a burger and a frosty. All well that ends well

My goodness! I'm glad that he's ok now but what a day! Poor little guy!
I am glad y'all made it to the hospital safely (and without a ticket)but Poor Jared! Good thing he is a boy. They like those kinds of things after they are scars...so they can tell the stories of how they were real men when they were four! Haha
